Socialist “child republics” on the Namedyer Werth

Recently I had here already mentioned the Kaltwassergeysir on the Namedyer Werth. But the peninsula in the Rhine did not only offer in former times this rare nature play, but also place for political experiments.

Actually the Namedyer Werth is today no more island, rather a promontory at the Rhine bank, short behind other oh one. Over-rampantly grown of a species-rich nature and with shell-scattered beaches the Werth was explained today as the protected area.

Socialist “child republics” on Namedy

Also over the politically most stretching chapter from Namedy proverbially grass grew. Where today the Gestrüpp rampantly grows man high and against the motorway B9 anzwitschern, which rumbles on an ugly concrete bridge over the peninsula, once thousand worker children a political experiment practiced the birds in vain. Between 1929 and 1931 “child republics” were proclaimed here, which was large camps of the left child friend movement with in to two thousand participants, in whom the usually lack-nourished children a summer were not long only high-pampered, but political going attempts made.
